Eduardo Otero Loperena, MD, is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist currently working toward positive outcomes with patients at Michigan Advanced Surgical Center, PLLC in Warren, Michigan. Dr. Loperena is bilingual in English as well as Spanish, his native language. He welcomes patients from all backgrounds and walks of life to receive individualized, comfortable care.
Dr. Loperena earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2015. He then completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the VA Caribbean Health Care System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, before moving to Birmingham, Alabama, for interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine fellowship training at Alabama Ortho Spine and Sports Medical Associates. He was chief resident in his residency program during the 2018-2019 academic year.
Throughout his education, training, and early career, Dr. Loperena has dedicated himself to volunteer work, orthopedic surgery research, educational meetings and symposia, lectures, and presentations. He has even earned awards for his stand-out service and excellence, including a certificate of pride and public service from the VA Caribbean Health Care System administration and an academic excellence award during his residency.
In his current role at Michigan Advanced Surgical Center, PLLC, Dr. Loperena implements findings from his own research as well as advanced and progressive treatments leading the field. He frequently performs treatments such as facet joint injections, bursa injections, lumbar discography, rhizotomy, and nerve blocks for pain.
Outside of work, Dr. Loperena stays busy and active with tennis and powerlifting. He also has a passion for music and plays drums and Latin percussion.
